Robert “Tor” Chaykin, has exhibited his artwork in Philadelphia, PA, Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Manhattan, New York City. He has had numerous Gallery shows, including, the Davoud Rad Gallery, the 22nd St. Gallery, the Sande Webster Gallery, the Perry Milou Gallery and Prime Stache Gallery, Philadelphia. He exhibited his art at the Metropolitan Pavilion and in Han Dynasty, Manhattan, NYC. He also has exhibited at the Perkin’s Center for the Arts in Moorestown, New Jersey. Tor has also published books of his paintings and his photography artwork.
Tor’s educational background includes studying various forms of art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, with a primary emphasis on painting and drawing. He studied at Project Basho, Photography Collective, mentoring under the tutelage of Master Printer, Tsuyoshi Ito, and he had his photographs exhibited in Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York City. Tor also attended Temple University and earned a Ph.D in Clinical/Rehabilitation Psychology in 1983. He has practiced as a psychologist for over (30) years.
Tor’s interests include documentaries, science fiction and classic films, fashion design, attending painting and photography exhibits, the culinary arts, motorcycles, racquet ball, martial arts and reading biographical and autobiographical works of artists.
Tor is currently proprietor and artist at BlinkArt Studio in Philadelphia, for over 15 years, which is located in the Rittenhouse Square art district.
The painters that Tor cites as most influential to his work include, Pollack, Picasso, Dali, Klimt and Modigliani. The photographers include Cartier-Bresson, Man Ray, Stieglitz, Moriyama, Garduno and Helmet Newton.
